Malcom Burnette

August 28, 1970 - August 11, 2024

Malcolm Sydney Burnette was born August 28, 1970, to the late Harvey Burnette, Sr and Mexie Marsh Burnette. He entered into a peaceful rest on August 11, 2024, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Winston Salem, North Carolina. Malcom graduated from Jordan-Matthews High School in 1989. While at Jordan -Matthews he was a member of the Varsity football team. Malcolm attended Evans Chapel AME Zion Church during his younger years and as an adult would visit for special occasions. Malcom’s love for trucks led him to purchase his own dump truck with dreams of one day being an owner/operator. While in his waiting season, he was employed by Wilson Brothers, Chandler Concrete, and Robert Baldwin Trucking. At a young age Malcolm developed a love for cars (especially Ford Mustangs) trucks, and motorcycles. He was well known in Burlington, NC, Greensboro, NC and Siler City, NC for his embellished Pearl White Suzuki Boulevard motorcycle. On any given Saturday you could find Malcolm at a race track “talking junk”. He loved the Incredible Hulk because he thought he had “hulk like strength”! You would often see Malcolm and his brother Jr, who he loved dearly, cruising around town on their fancy motorcycles. He was well loved by many and loved carrying on conversations. Malcolm was a talker and did not meet a stranger. Malcolm was such an outgoing man who loved his children, his girlfriend Lori, the Dallas Cowboys and his family as he spoke of them all often. Malcolm and his girlfriend, Lori also enjoyed taking the grandchildren to the beach for vacations. Malcolm was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Burnette, Sr, and Mexie Marsh Burnette, brothers Julius Earl Marsh and James Franklin Marsh. Malcolm leaves to cherish his memory his son, Camden Burnette(Gizel) of Vicenza, Italy and daughter Jakayla Burnette of Pittsboro NC; grandson, Zayden Cairo Burnette of Vicenza, Italy; his girlfriend of 11 years Lori Wade who he loved immensely; two stepchildren Brittnei Burton and Bradley Burton; two step grandchildren Cameron Riley and Christian Riley all of Burlington, NC.; brothers, Thurl Lee Marsh, of Apex, NC, Larry Darnell Marsh of Siler City, NC and Harvey Lee Burnette, Jr of Burlington, NC; Four nephews’ Brian Marsh, Michael Newby, Phillip Marsh, William McSwain; three nieces, Crystal Johnson, Sasha Burnette-Headen, Brittany Brooks; two special cousin who were like his brothers, Frank Marsh and Maurice Marsh, A host of cousins, friends and former co-workers.

Serenia A. Riddle

October 11, 1970 - June 27, 2024

Serenia Ann Riddle, 53, of Pittsboro, went home to be with her Lord Thursday, June 27th, 2024, at home.Serenia was born October 11th, 1970, in Chapel Hill to Leton Daniel Riddle, Jr. and Wilma Louise Ellis. She graduated in 1988 from Northwood High School where she played in the marching band. She was also a graduate of Central Carolina Community College where she majored in childcare. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church where she enjoyed her Sunday school class. Serenia loved Elvis Presley and Dale Earnhardt and she loved to go shopping. She was very devoting in her church life, and she knew her Bible. She loved meeting people in general and loved watching her soap operas on TV.Serenia is preceded in death by her mother, Wilma, and her niece Karlie. She is survived by her father, L.D. Riddle, her brother, Duane Daniel Riddle; her aunt, Rosa Ann Headen; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jennifer Ann (Cameron) Dowdy

April 19, 1970 - August 10, 2023

Our dearest Jennifer "Jenn" Ann Cameron Dowdy was born April 19, 1970, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to Phyllis and Mack Cameron. Jennifer went home to be with our Lord and Savior on August 10, 2023, at the age of 53 and entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at her residence. Raised in Pittsboro, North Carolina, Jennifer graduated from Northwood High School in 1988. She was a die-hard fan of the Wolfpack (North Carolina State University), which made for some pretty interesting conversations over holiday and second Sunday dinners. Jenn was the epitome of love. She was genuinely kindhearted and never had a single bad thing to say about anyone, believing that "people are going to be who they are" and "we should meet them where they are." With her contagious laugh and bright smile, to be loved by Jenn was to feel welcome in her presence. A woman of simple pleasures, Jennifer never wanted for much. She loved spontaneous trips to the beach, storm-watching, and spending time with her family. Jennifer will be remembered as a loving, devoted, loyal wife, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. An official member of Hamlet Chapel CME church, Jennifer loved Jesus and never missed an opportunity to remind her children, nieces, and nephews to say their prayers.  Jennifer is survived by her mother, Phyllis Cameron Rhone; father, Mack Cameron; high-school sweetheart and husband of 23 years, Donovan Dowdy; children, Gloria "Muff" Cameron McCullough (Bobby), Christina Cameron, Donovan "Alex" Dowdy II, Cortney Dowdy, Bradley Dowdy, and Alaysia Wright; grandmother, Mildred Perry; brother and sisters, Andrea Perry Wiley (Jeremiah), Mack Cameron (Lajaynes "Lala"), Stacie Cameron, Angela Cole (Michael), Lonnette Renee Rhone, Cathy Rhone Snipes (LaPerry); thirteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends and her very loved family In-love

Luther Lott, Jr.

Date of Death: January 10, 2021

Mr. Luther Issac "Junie" Lott, Jr. age 49 of Pittsboro, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at his residence. Luther was preceded in death by his mother and father, Barbara Jean Lott and Luther Issac Lott, Sr.; a sister, Charlene Lott; three grandfathers, Luther Labon Lott and Nathan Alston and Charles Brandon; a grandmother, Helen Lott;  one aunt, Diane "Tiny" Lott and two uncles, Clark Lott and Charles Lott Luther "Junie" leaves to mourn his brothers, Nathan Lott of Sanford, NC and Charles "Tony" Lott of Charlotte, NC; nieces, C.C. "Charity Alston and Madison Lott; a nephew, Matthew Martin; three aunts, Catherine Lott, Lorraine Lott Beamon, Alice Jean Hayes, an uncle Calvin Lott, a great uncle, Sonny Lott.  And a host of first cousins, 2nd and 3rd cousins family, and friends.

Lisa Carolyn Stamps

Date of Death: June 4, 2012

Lisa Carolyn Stamps, 42 died Monday, June 4th at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem from a tragic house fire.  Lisa was a kind, gentle soul and sweet spirit.

Kimberly Ann Mason

April 16, 1971 - January 15, 2009

Kimberly Ann Mason, 37 died Thursday, January 15th in a tragic house fire at her home.  Kim was a very loving, caring, and giving person, always concerned about the well-being of others.  She spent her entire life caring for her parents, James and Ellen Mason.  Her father precede her in death in 1997, and her mother preceded her in death January 11, 2009. 
Survivors  Sisters: Janet Edwards & her husband Don, of Raleigh; Barbara Brewer & her husband, Eddie, of Staunton, VA; and Mary Jane Johnson of Apex.  Nephews: Preston Brewer, and James and Matthew Johnson.

Terri Russell

December 16, 1970 - October 10, 1993

Terri Russell was seriously injured in a car accident during high school and never returned to school.  She passed from complications of the accident in October 10, 1993.

A message that Kim Mason wrote as a farewell in our NHS Hoofbeats Newsletter before graduating. As well as a tribute to our classmates that passed before graduation.
